I cannot work in an environment where shit is tolerated. I'd much rather work for a company that fired people at the drop of a hat than put up with harassment in the workplace. It's so low class. Someone who's behavior is the very -definition- of harassment. Someone who's not only belittling, obnoxious and rude to the employees, but to the CUSTOMERS as well! How can you tolerate such unmitigated misconduct!? How important is morale? How important is your relationship with your employees and to the customers?
I went to upper management and complained, on more than one occasion about this individual, only to see that this person's behavior has been slipped under the radar time and time again. Have there been any reports or notes added to this persons file, or my own? This subject has been brought to managements attention by more than just myself, and I know this because I was informed by management that others have complained.
On February 6th, one of our staff was arguing with this person about, you guessed it, another incident of harassment in the workplace. I was present during this particular argument, and I can only guess how many similar arguments happen with this person while I'm not present. From what I heard, the incident not only happened in front of the customers, but it caused such distress for the targeted individual, that they walked off the floor. A member of the management team was present during this argument as well, and said NOTHING!? NOTHING?! Really? Here's a person standing up against a bulldozer, and management is standing there spectating. I think that's bullshit. To me that says that management tolerates such behavior. But working for Mr X, they obviously have to.
You know what this person's excuse was? "Sometime's I don't watch what I say." What an understatement. Why are we protecting this person?! Why must those who disagree with this situation bend over backwards and cater to the needs of someone who often behaves inappropriately and is incapable of normal social functioning? We're in the service industry, and this person would be much better off working in another field, and seeing a therapist.
As I've said before, I'd much rather work for a company that fired people at the drop of a hat than put up with this kind of misconduct in the workplace.
